Comparing ourselves…

quotes-about-being-yourself-and-happy-325916603958085665.jpg

Each of us have had a different Path on our Life Experience. We know we are individuals, but we often don’t know how to look at our Self without comparing our Self with others. Most of us have had the notion ingrained in us at an early age that have to be like someone, or better than someone or not like someone. It is almost comical to think how we are told to be an individual but be like this. It almost like telling someone to win a car race but you have to keep the emergency brake on while driving.

Now I am not saying that we should not notice the differences in others around us; that to me is actually a beautiful feature that I look for in everyone I meet. So what if we were to be cognizant of others’ differences without having to put our Self on the scale of better or worse than another’s Self.

I have not mastered the art of not comparing myself, though I continually work on my perspective. Funny, I am about 6’4′ and many say that I am tall. I tell them I am average height and they scoff at me.  I tell them, everyone I know is either taler than me or shorter than me, therefore I am average height 🙂 I also see myself as the same age as each person I talk with which makes it very easy for me to talk with very young children and “adults aka older children”!

how old

We have so many different facets of our own existence and we could compare each one with someone else and this would prove to be a daunting series of tasks, and to what end? Why not let everyone BE whom they are and YOU BE whom you are? You are a beautiful Spirit existing in human form for this current Life Experience. I like what Abraham said about this:

“See this world as a free world, and see everyone in it as trying—through their individual experiences—to find their way back to that calling, back to that Source Energy. And even though there are billions of them going about it in a way that is different than you would choose, there’s no right or wrong way. In other words, bless them all, and get on with the only thing you have any power about, which is opening or closing your vortex to your natural state of Well-Being.

If all you did was just look for things to appreciate you would live a joyous, spectacular life. If there was nothing else that you ever came to understand other than just look for things to appreciate, it’s the only tool you would ever need to predominantly hook you up with who you really are. That’s all you’d need.”

Learning to live with less comparisons and letting others BE can allow us to be happy with “being me.”

Being Individual but Not Separate

Each of us that currently reside on this little planet we call Earth, have an idea that we are different individuals. But individual “what?”

Here is a supposition; Let’s say that some time ago in “The Beginning” of existence, everything started from a thought which materialized in matter. This matter altogether was the size of a pea, and then the energy within it caused the “Big Bang” which was the expansion of all matter into the Universe. So everything that IS had its common Origin from that One Source, and the expansion and reproduction continues from all that WAS then.

All the materials that make up the stars and planets came from this same beginning as did we. Now, let us say that since we all came from the same Source, we are all connected. If you were to ask someone, “Who are You?”, what would be the typical response? Many would respond with “distinctions or labels” such as race, job title, political or religious affiliation, or other different things that we DO or use to “describe our individualism.” What if we started to look at each other as part of the Human Family that inhabits this planet, without using those “differentiating descriptors”? Imagine the unity of seven billion people all living in peace as One Family. So you currently don’t get along with your family, and why should adding seven billion more family members make things easier? Dr. Wayne Dyer said, “Friends are God’s way of apologizing for our family!”

My own personal thought is that the most prevalent reason for our current level of discontent is the idea that we are all separate from one another AND The Source.

Another leap in the previous supposition; not only are all persons connected, but every thing that exists is connected since it all came from the same Source. A person can now say that they are an individual, yes; but rather than an individual person, an individual piece of the Entire Universe.

Why Not Smile? :)

My goal each morning is to see how many people I can make smile today!

Our Life Experience is a series of Present Moments. They are not necessarily good or bad, right or wrong, but rather just are what we see them as. A key that I have found is that we don’t see the world as it is, we see it as we are. So it seems that it takes about the same amount of energy and intention in any Present Moment to be in a “good mood” as it does to be in a “bad mood.” Since Life is a sum of our choices, we have the ability and responsibility to make a decision as to what we want To Be.

Making a choice To Be Happy does not mean that you ignore your surroundings, family and friends, or your present Life Situation. What we can do is decide to be what we want to see which will then influence what we look at in that moment. If we pay attention, we will often see that our world is really just a reflection of our own inner thoughts expressing themselves in the persons and things we attract from said thoughts. I tell people that is began my Awakening, I would get up each morning and apply a thick balm of “madness repellent.” As I became better at managing my thoughts, I found that now I can use a light spritz of the repellent as I attract what I AM.

As we accept responsibility for all of our choices; mood, food, music, news, conversations and activities or lack thereof; we remove the victim mentality and restore our power to be what we intend to be. Our happiness is in our choice of thoughts, not what someone else thinks. This gives us the freedom to improve our Life Experience at each Present Moment knowing that there is a Lesson to be gleaned from each Present Moment; and that depends on what we think we are Being. So why not smile, think thoughts that make you feel good and then face the present moment?

How are We connected?

Gregg Braden has said one of the more important questions we can ask is “Who am I?” The answer to this question can then lead us to a much deeper understanding of our Self and the world we create around us. When we go way back to what can be said in some writings, “In the beginning …”, there was nothing physical existing, but out of a thought from the Initial Source there began the creation of matter, energy and Being. So if we liken this to a small pea which contained all that was to come forth as the thoughts and thus The Universe continually expands, we can see that everything started from the same Source, which means everything has an original connection.

tumblr_lzqbhg4Vhe1qzn4as

“Thought that is projected, now thinks. So it’s not possible to separate the thinker from the thought, because the thinker thinks a thought, and then the thought thinks and becomes a thinker, and then the thought, that was a thought that is now a thinker, thinks another thought, which becomes a thinker, also. And so, there is a constant summoning of Life Force. Now, a thought that is thought longer becomes Thought Form. A thought that is thought upon by many, becomes Thought Form. A thought that is thought upon by many, in a very clear undiluted fashion, as from Nonphysical Perspective where there is no resistance, becomes physical matter. That’s why the physical universe is a by-product of the Nonphysical attention or focus. So, the Nonphysical Energy that created this physical mass from the Energy of the Universe, the mass itself, now becomes a thought that is thinking, that is attracting the Energy.”

Realizing that we are all connected to EVERYTHING and EVERYONE should change the way we look at others, not as enemies, rather as a separate expression of ourselves in other beings, all one family. And as we are all one family, then why don’t we  begin to look for the most loving way to interact with every Being we encounter?

Gregg Braden explains this in a series by Gaia called  “Missing Links” and in a Gregg Braden Q&A with Gaia

What are You Capable of Being?

Great things

Each of us go through our Life Experience as it comes to us, one Present Moment at a time. We sometimes think of it in terms of months, days or years but it actually comes in small intervals.

Time flows in the same way for all human beings; every human being flows through time in a different way.

Yasunari Kawabata

When we begin to realize that our thoughts influence our lives, our attitude and our perspective, we can gain more control in each moment by paying attention to our thoughts.

2013-12-10 12.01.14-4

Our thoughts affect us on many levels, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. With so much being influenced by what we think, we can begin to exert small changes in these areas of our Life Experience. By continually looking for positive Life Lessons in each Present Moment, our focus changes to feeling good, which is the basis for Well-Being. This will necessarily improve your existence in the different areas of your Life. You will begin to attract more “good feeling” thoughts. This change in perception will make you more capable of changing your Self and your world. It might not happen all at once but then neither does your Life Experience.

Bruce Lipton and Gregg Braden have shown the heart and our thoughts can affect our lives.

As we become more cognizant of our thoughts in each Present Moment, we are capable of controlling our Life Experience. Sort of like “As a man thinketh…” 🙂

How Do We Implement Change?

When we look at what composes our Life Experience, it helps to notice that it does not occur in years, not months, not even days. It is a series of Present Moments that can, if you like, be strung together to form a timeline of events of your preferential designation. Some have said, “Don’t sweat the small stuff!” I’d like to implore that we should BE cognizant, of and in, each Present Moment. How you decide to look at it, will determine what you get out these moments. If one looks for the beauty or the madness of The Moment, they will find it.

So often if we dwell on the past, we can experience some form of regret; and if we dwell on the future, we can experience some form of anxiety. Now, I ask you at this Present Moment, what is wrong? 🙂

This is a simple practice of being appreciative and attentive in the Now. So how does this relate to change? Just as our Life Experience occurs in small increments, so does the process of change with our Self. We often are looking for some large, noble event to signify our change, growth or awakening.

The beginning of change starts with each of us, first. As we note that our physical growth occurs over time in small increments, similarly, our Awakening, both mentally and spiritually, occur in small increments. It is a process for our Self. Also know that the one person that you have 100% control over is You. You don’t control others though you can be an influence, a light, a guide; but they have to make their own change to their Self. As we awaken, our light shines brighter and our world get lighter. The change we seek begins one person at a time, over a series of time but just like a ripple in a body of water, it can continue to travel in ever widening circles. Improve yourself, improve your world!

When did we first choose to be responsible?

One of my favorite quotes is “Life is the Sum of OUR Choices.” In my Life Experience, I began to see that the more I took responsibility for the choices that I make in each Present Moment, the more power I have in my Path. When we blame others for our condition or circumstances, we are allowing them to have some of our power to determine our direction, our growth and awakening; in many areas, physically, mentally and spiritually to name a few.

2013-10-29 08.57.30

How much Power do You have?

When we begin to look to when we started making choices, we can see when we had the power to take responsibility for ourselves. So how far back can you remember making choices in your life? It will probably be different for each person that ponders this.

Many of us have belief in The Source, The Universe, God or Higher Power; there are thousands of names and you can use whichever you like. In regards to The Source, many of us see ourselves as a being created by The Source and wholly separate from The Source and others on the planet with us.

Now allow me to float a concept, not anything new, just another view. What if We and The Source are actually One and the Same, connected, smaller versions of the Original? As such, YOU are the creator of your world. Now back to our question: When did we start making choices? As the creator of your world, you had a choice as to when you were going to show up on the planet, you chose your parents and what you wanted to experience through that choice. This concept puts all the responsibility on Us as an individual and we relinquish the blame on God, politics, the economy, our mate or any thing else. It is , was and will be about each of US taking responsibility for our Life Experience. This also gives us our power to make choices, good choices, choices that will benefit our world . What a responsibility, eh?!

How is Your Life Flowing?

2016-03-31 08.13.46

When we look around at our individual situation right now, what we see depends on our point of view.

A theme to my Life Experience is, “We don’t see the world as it is, we see it the way we are.” Each of us has a unique perspective when we view a situation. The same situation can and will have a different meaning for each person; and that is OK. In each Present Moment, we have a choice as to how or what we are going to BE. We think “I am happy and grateful” and our view of our surroundings will from a positive view. Conversely, when we think “I am really perturbed or frustrated”, our perspective will tend to be a bit negative. in short though, our point of view is influenced by how we are in the moment.

2016-03-29 01.38.48

React v. Respond

As a situation or event unfolds in front of us, we have a choice in how we are going to handle it. One of my earlier teachers in my awakening taught me to think ten times before I speak. Thought travels at 24 billion miles per second so there is not actually a long delay in the response. The practice of hearing, listening, thinking and BEing in a particular state of mind before commenting or acting allows for One to respond with intention rather than to react to the situation with sometimes unintended feelings, emotions, words and/or actions.

2016-03-20 01.37.29

As we allow ourselves to BE in a state of Peace, Happiness and Love, and looking for the lesson we are to learn from it, our view of a situation will let is be “responsable” rather than reactive. You are constantly in the flow of the stream of the Universe; you can decide whether to paddle upstream against the current or use the paddles to guide you downstream with the current. It is then not a matter of ignoring unpleasant situations but rather adjusting our point of view which then allows us to maintain a “Calm in the Storm of the Life situation.”

YOU ARE Here…

2014-12-30 21.57.21

On Your Path, there are many questions that arise. Let’s  briefly address two of them: “Who are you?” and “Where are you?” To make this a little more personal, let’s ask Who am I? and “Where am I?” We are each living our individual experiences and as such, we will ofttimes see the same thing from different perspectives; and that is OK. When we can acknowledge AND accept that others will have a different point of view, we allow ourselves to encompass a broader view which then allows us to learn more.

Many times when we are answering questions, we refer to information and/or knowledge that we have accumulated on our Path. Again, there are numerous sources of information and it can be learned differently, understood differently and thus applied differently. Again, this is OK. When we begin our process of educating ourselves about ourselves, one of the optimal places to first look is at our SELF. By using yourself as the primary subject, we can reduce the need for comparing our Path, though it will not eliminate the comparisons; but we need to start somewhere. Also, understand that it is OK to question what you know.So as we look at our sources of our knowledge and how we apply our knowledge, we start the process of learning by sometimes un-learning what we thought we knew.

Let’s look at an example of something that has varied views. When I say “GOD”, what comes to your mind? When I say Universe or Source, do you have the same image or understanding? Which of the terms do you feel you are a part of, and which do you think you are separate from?

2013-12-10 11.59.03-3

If you scoop a bucket of water from the ocean as you are standing on the beach, what is the water in the bucket and is it different from the ocean because it is in the bucket? Take this same analogy to YOU and your view of your SELF.Referring back to what makes you feel and/or think you are a part of, rather than being separate from; we can begin to see how it is easier to build a relationship with what we are, something we are familiar with or see the similarities with. As we realize that WE are not as separate from each other; and in turn from whom created US, we then begin to reduce the reasons for superficial differences. When we start applying this to our daily lives, we begin to see that all the so-called social, economical, political and racial differences really are not important.

How do we apply this “new found” knowledge of our SELF to our two questions? If we see ourselves as a smaller part of The Universe, individual yet connected by a common Source, we can all create a new world for ourselves and a new World collectively. We can say, “I AM the creator of my world, which is where I AM Here and Now.”
